Molly Rohrer is a vitreous enamel Artist. Her original sketches are transferred to sheets of fine silver or copper. Each piece is sawed by hand and forged into shape.
Powdered glass is then sifted and kiln fired to 1450 degrees, fusing the glass to the metal. A minimum of six firings is required, and most pieces have many many more.
Fine details are added by shaping fine silver wire (cloisonne), adding separate enameled pieces, or fusing pieces of fine silver together by torch fire and then filling the cells with glass (champleve). Molly gets her inspiration from her love of the sea, nature, and the simple joys of life while adding her own whimsical touch.
