Jan Urbanic

I moved to Sun City six years ago from Concord Twp.. Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland to Bluffton. I started painting in oil upon my retirement after 25 years in a corporate environment. Prior to that I spent many years teaching hobbyist ceramics and the art of china painting.

Upon my retirement, I took my first class in oil painting in a program taught at the Cleveland

Museum of Art. When I moved here, I began to paint the enchanting birds of the Lowcountry, and the beauty of the marsh and wetlands. In my work I try to capture the softer side of nature and human relationships, while my watercolor batik work tends to focus on the whimsical.
