My love of art started as a child sketching animals and flowers. In elementary school, I took art lessons from the high school art teacher. My first painting workshop wasn't until 2006 with an impressionist painter. This was a very daunting experience, as I had never used oil paints. She painted Alla Prima or wet-on-wet. It was such a wonderful experience that it sparked a new love of oil painting. It is truly exciting to see the painting take shape and come out of the canvas.
My paintings are a mixture of palette knife, brush strokes, texture, and self taught learning. I have met so many wonderful artists on my journey, who have shared their time and knowledge so freely. The beauty of the marsh, waterways, live oaks, wildlife and local architecture speak to my creative soul. The Lowcountry truly is a magical place to call home.
