My work draws inspiration from the fluidity of water, the textures of marshes, and the natural beauty of the Low Country. Growing up along a river in rural Virginia, where I first discovered clay along the riverbed, profoundly shaped my life and introduced me to the world of pottery. I strive to capture the fun and fluidity in the elements of my pieces, despite the inherent stillness of clay. Each piece reflects my passion for blending decorative and functional art with an emphasis on the joy and serenity I find in the world around me.
For over 30 years, I have immersed myself in the art of pottery, teaching for nearly 25 of those years. My practice is driven by a personal quest for mental well-being and joy, and I seek to extend that same sense of happiness to others through my work.
