“You don’t take a photograph...you make it” --- Ansel Adams
BACKGROUND INFO: Working in advertising and architectural photography for over 20 years in Connecticut, Sandy retired to the Lowcountry in 2001. The main focus of her photography is now nature, abstracts and botanical art. She also loves to take her photographs to another level by skillful use of Photoshop to create “Transformations” (digital art). Sandy also produces “Auratone” photos combining black and white images with gold acrylic paints.
This year is devoted to “Hands Across Beaufort” a photo essay sponsored by the Beaufort-Three-Century Project. Sandy is photographing the hands of over 100 Beaufortonians as they work at their vocation or avocation. The work will be featured in an exhibit in the Fall of 2010.
Sandy was a founder of the Photography Club of Beaufort, past president and current Treasurer. She is also on the executive board of Beaufort Art Association (presently Treasurer) and chairperson of the Bull Point Architectural Review Board. She is a member of the North American Nature Photographers Association (NANPA) and the Carolina Nature Photographers Association (CNPA). She has taught darkroom and creative photography courses and has been a photo competition judge throughout New England and South Carolina.
