Kari Swanson is a local artist who resides in Beaufort, South Carolina. Her work can be seen in galleries throught the area.
While in high school Kari began her career in art at The Art Institute of Chicago. She left art school to obtain a college degree in education.
Kari returned to her love of art twenty years later when she attended The Art Academy of Cincinnati. She majored in painting and drawing. Her minors were in Art History and Museum Installation.
She then attended Miami of Ohio University where she completed her studies in painting and multimedia drawing. During this time she also began work in paper making and collage.
“I love the changing colors and textures of the Beaufort sea and landscapes. They are the influence for my work as a paointer. I paint in an impressionistic style and I want to capture the mood and the feeling of my surroundings.”
