Jay Kenaga has been painting for over 50 years as a serious hobbyist and lately, as a professional painter and teacher of landscapes, waterscapes, still-lifes, and portraits. He teaches classical oil painting, that is, sketching first in monotone, then colors.
He uses water mixable oil because it retains the natural colors of oil and is non-toxic, odorless and non-flammable. Plus, you can wash your brushes and hands in soap and water.
He believes in a severe palette of red, yellow and blue and white, in that, in mixing colors yourself, you really learn all about color.
He has been a member of the Washington, D.C. Society of Landscape Painters, the Society of Bluffton Artists, the Beaufort Art Association, and the All About Art Club of Sun City Hilton Head. His work has been collected by art lovers throughout the U.S.
