Frequently Asked Questions
How long has the Beaufort Art Association been active in the Lowcountry?
Since its inception in 1957, over 55 years ago, Beaufort Art Association (BAA) has contributed to the visual arts in Beaufort County, South Carolina. As Beaufort developed into one of the most charming artistic communities on the east coast of the United States, the BAA became a regional centerpiece for local artists, art lovers and artisans to support, exhibit and grow their individual talents. Instrumental in offering art classes, workshops and exhibits, BAA welcomes the public to these presentations.
How is the Association funded?
Beaufort Art Association is a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 tax exempt status. All donations given to BAA are tax deductible. BAA is principally funded by membership dues, as well as from private donations from companies and people like you.
Do I have to be an artist to join the Association?
We welcome both the artist and non-artist as we keep the needs and assets of the community in mind. BAA offers several types of memberships: Individual, Family, Patron of the Arts, Corporate and Student. Exhibiting Artists form another group of members who fully participate in running the Gallery. Please visit our Benefits of Membership page to learn more about the benefits and what it takes to become a member. We hope you will all become members of the Beaufort Art Association!
